Note: S.T.E.M. Summer Assignment file below. Locate "Summer Assignment STEM.pdf" Dear Parents and Students, Welcome! Here you will find copies of my Power Point presentations consisting of vocabulary and essential questions as well as relevant links, images, and movies. Makeup lab opportunities will also be posted here as links. Please go to Pupil Path to view grades. Chemistry is a rigorous science class that requires a lot of work and effort in terms of listening and note-taking in class, and practice in problem solving for homework. Many fascinating topics will be studied: Behavior of matter; atomic concepts; nuclear chemistry; chemical bonding; periodic table; mathematics of chemistry; acids and bases; reduction and oxidation; and organic chemistry. Homework will be given every day to reinforce topics learned in class. It is imperative that students complete their homework assignments as practice is the key to success in my class. Simple (four operations) calculators are required to enable students to do math problems and review books with many problems to practice will be on sale. Tests will be given approximately every two weeks and students must attend lab every week. This work will be placed into their portfolio along with classwork and goals. Students must complete 30 labs in order to be eligible to take the regents in June and students who pass the culminating regents exam may earn course credit. Tutoring is available period 8 in room 209 or 207. If there are any questions or concerns feel free to contact me anytime: DOsorio3@schools.nyc.gov or call the school at 718-263-1919 ext. 3051 or ext. 2091 and leave a message. I look forward to working with you and helping students reach their highest potential. Remember, CHEM IS TRY!! Sincerely, Ms. Osorio Science Department |
