ARISTA National Honor Society
The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. These characteristics have been associated with membership in the organization since it’s beginning in 1921.
Today, it is estimated that more than one million students participate in NHS activities. NHS chapters are found in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, many U.S. territories, and Canada. Chapter membership not only recognizes students for their accomplishments, but also challenges them to develop further through active involvement in school activities and community service. ARISTA is composed of four pillars: scholarship, leadership, service and character. These fundamentals make ARISTA unique than other honor society.
Our Celebrated Pillars of Success:
First, is the pillar of Scholarship: academic achievement through studies. In ARISTA, members are expected to come in with at least an 88 GPA and maintain that GPA. As an ARISTA scholar, one must be diligent and honest while obtaining any grade. Dishonesty will not be tolerated and is unacceptable for this prestigious society.
Second, is the pillar of Leadership: guidance of a group or individual. The leadership pillar in ARISTA encourages all current and future members to take action and further improve the community and environment around us. Simple activities such as tutoring will show ones great extent and care over the community.
Third, is the pillar of Service: helping and aiding those that are struggling. In ARISTA, it is especially important that all members complete at least 30 hours throughout the school year. If not, the member could be in trouble of not receiving the ARISTA stall for graduation. However, it is not simply just receiving volunteer hours that ARISTA strives for. Once we exist out of high school, we are able to look back and see that we have given up a few hours of our time to help those who are struggling, allowing us to see the different views and sides of society.
Lastly, is the pillar of Character: the moral and ethical qualities that characterize an individual. In ARISTA we strive for members to be respectful and professional around all. Qualities that all members should possess are honesty, diligence, integrity, dedication, and imitative.
